MWR San Diego Parking/ Storage Hours Reduction (COVID-19)

We wanted to share some news we just received from a service member looking to store her and her husbands two vehicles for 6 months while deployed.

Apparently the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) POV (privately owned vehicle) storage lots are closed all week EXCEPT Mondays for the foreseeable future due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is related to state and local governments ask for citizens to self quarantine and only work/ operate their businesses when absolutely necessary. This is as of 03/25/2020 and affects NAVBASE Coronado, NAVBASE San Diego, and NAVBASE Point Loma.

Going back to this family’s dilemma…this left them in a tough spot as the husband was being deployed Friday March 27th and his was was to return outside of California. This left them 1 day to figure out what to do.

Luckily, they chatted with us and we are able to take their vehicles in on Thursday March 26th with no issue as we are still operating relatively normal hours.
