A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to be invited to a Porsche Taycan tech demo at Porsche San Diego and The PCA San Diego Region. Our primary interest in going was to see what it would be like to store these new cars for a long period of time. Luckily, I was able to chat with the shop foreman and head mechanic to learn all about this cutting-edge car.

When someone comes to get their vehicle from storage, they often ask if the oil in the car is good to be driven on or if they need to change the oil before driving the vehicle regularly.

Our customers come in seeking a basic safe place to keep their car, however they end up discovering that when you keep a car with us, there is so much more to what we do.

Many times, customers store cars with us because they want to sell them. Sometimes they don’t have room for the car at home, sometimes they are leaving town immediately and need to have us be a sort of automotive escrow.

Over the past couple of years, car storage has become a trendy business to start.

Much of the drive for this has come from the surge in popularity in classic or soon-to-be classic cars. The sudden value increase in Porsches (especially air cooled ones) is a notable example.

Batteries are typically an easy maintenance item on cars. Most of the time, a vehicle owner can swap out their own battery with minimal technical aptitude.

Most auto parts stores now have systems where you as an amateur mechanic can walk in, tell them your year, make, and model, and they’ll recommend a battery size. Easy!
